Foothills practices non-traditional casting. No prior experience is necessary.
Auditions are typically "cold reads." These types of auditions consist of performing selections (called "sides") from the show for which you are auditioning with only a few minutes to prepare. This allows each person auditioning to be seen more than once, and to be considered for multiple roles. The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged
Auditions: February 26 & 27 at 7pm
Show Dates: April 12-14 & 19-21
Director: Jordan Randall
Summary: Featured are all 37 of Shakespeare’s plays, meant to be performed in 97 minutes, by three actors. Fast paced, witty, and physical, it’s full of laughter for Shakespeare lovers and haters alike.
Cast: 3 total performers

Harold and Maude
"Offbeat Upbeat Comedy"
Audition Dates: August 21 & 22, 2023, 7pm Both Days
Show Dates: October 6-8 & 13-15, 2023

Director: Cody Watson
Summary: This is a stage adaptation of the movie about the suicidal 19 year old boy who finally learns how to truly live when he meets that delightfully wacky octogenarian, Maude. Harold is the proverbial poor little rich kid. His alienation has caused him to attempt suicide several times, though these incidents are more cries for attention than actual attempts. His peculiar attachment to Maude, whom he meets at a funeral (a mutual passion) is what saves him and what captivates us.
*Due to the technically intense nature of the show all cast will also double in a crew role*
Harold- 19 to 25. Male presenting. An odd and neatly dressed boy. He is sullen but with a quick and
genuine wit. Actor must be able to play the banjo.
Maude- Must be able to realistically portray an 80 year old. Female presenting. A free-spirited elderly
woman who takes Harold under her wing. Actress must be able to play the piano.
Mrs.Chasen- late 30s to early 50s. Female presenting. Harold’s mother. A wealthy and extravagant
woman who is completely immune to Harold’s “eccentricities”.
Maid- Any age. Female presenting. The Chasen’s new maid who has not quite gotten used to Harold.
Dr. Matthews- late 30s to 100. Male presenting. The Chasen’s psychiatrist. A well meaning if not stuffy
psychiatrist who has been hired by Mrs. Chasen to “help” Harold.
Priest- Any age. Male presenting. Father Finnegan, a local priest who means well but is caught in the
crossfires of Maude’s schemes.
Gardener- Any age. Male presenting. A cemetery grounds keeper who runs afoul of Maude. Small role.
Chief Gardener- Any age. Male presenting. Gardener’s boss. Small role.
Sylvie Gazel- 18 to 25. Female presenting. A young student. Small role.
Inspector Bernard- 30+ Male presenting. A tall and tough stereotypical cop who is investigating Maude’s
numerous crimes. Small role
Sergeant Doppel- 30+ Male presenting. Bernard’s partner. Described as short and pudgy. Small role.
Nancy Mersch- 18 to 25. Female presenting. A young student. Small role.
Sunshine Dore- 18 to 25. Female presenting. Harold’s final blind date. Small role.

Gift of the Magi
(with Special Performances of Holiday Music)

This production of THE GIFT OF THE MAGI produced by Foothills Performing Arts welcomes all abilities regardless of race, gender, national origin, religion, sexual identity or disability.
Roles: The director is seeking a diverse cast of FOUR individuals only: 1 male identifying individual, and 3 female identifying individuals.
Summary: Summary: It's Christmas 1954, and newlywed couple Jim and Della Young are struggling to make ends meet. They just moved into a new house, and Jim is working for a less-than-adequate salary at his job as an accountant. But, this being their first Christmas together, each of them tries to find the most perfect gift for the other as a surprise. With barely any money, and an idea from a quirky neighbor, the couple sets off to make their first Christmas together one to be remembered. This heartwarming adaption of O.Henry's classic story, THE GIFT OF THE MAGI displays the true meaning of the Holiday season, and the lengths one will go to show their love.

Audition instructions:
- Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the audition start time to complete audition paperwork. If you have a headshot and/or resume, please feel free to bring those as well. Note that this is not required.
- No audition prep is necessary. The director will ask you to read cold from the script.
- Seeking: 1 male identifying individual, and 3 female identifying individuals.
- The characters of Jim and Della will sing a portion of a Christmas carol during the show. Those who are considering these roles should be prepared to sing a few bars of a Christmas song for the director
- Rehearsal times and dates will be dependent on availability of cast and crew. You must be available for all technical rehearsals and show performances.

Godspell
"Prepare ye for the timeless tale of friendship, loyalty and love based on the Gospel According to St. Matthew."
Auditions: (*NEW DATES*) December 17-18 at 7pm
Show Dates: February 23 - 25 & March 1-3, 2024
Director: Dalton Isaac
Summary: A small group of people help Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques and a hefty dose of comic timing. An eclectic blend of songs, ranging in style from pop to vaudeville, is employed as the story of Jesus' life dances across the stage. Dissolving hauntingly into the Last Supper and the Crucifixion, Jesus' messages of kindness, tolerance and love come vibrantly to life.
Cast Size: 10 individuals
Cast Type: Ensemble Cast
Dance Requirements: Standard
1. Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the audition start time to complete audition paperwork. If you have a headshot and/or resume, please feel free to bring those as well. Note that this is not required.
2. Please prepare a verse and chorus of a song of your choice. The song should display your vocal ability, and be approximately 32 bars. A song in the style of GODSPELL is requested. An accompanist will be provided, as well as a speaker if you wish to use a
backing track.
3. Dress appropriately for a dance call following your audition. The choreographer will teach you a combination. *You must attend the dance call to be considered for this show. We welcome all levels of dance abilities. GODSPELL is not a ‘dance heavy’ show.
4. If you are auditioning for a specific track in the show (i.e, Jesus or Judas) please prepare a 32 bar cut of ‘Beautiful City’ or ‘All For the Best’ for a possible callback in addition to your regular audition. FPA is producing the 2012 Revival edition of
GODSPELL.
5. Rehearsal times and dates will be dependent on availability of cast and crew. You must be available for all technical rehearsals and show performances.

This production of GODSPELL produced by Foothills Performing Arts welcomes all abilities regardless of race, gender, age, national origin, religion, sexual identity or disability. The creative team would like to specifically welcome members of BIPOC, and LGBTQ+ communities to participate in auditions. Although casting will not be limited to these folx, allyship is absolutely a requirement.
